Product Overview

3M Single Bond Universal Adhesive is a single-component, light-curing universal adhesive designed for versatile restorative bonding workflows. It may be used with self-etch, selective-enamel-etch or total-etch techniques, allowing the clinician to select the etching approach appropriate to the clinical case. The adhesive is indicated for bonding light-cured composite and compomer materials in direct restorations, including all Black classes. It can also be used for composite or compomer repair, intraoral repair of certain indirect restorations, root-surface desensitization, dentin sealing before amalgam placement, sealing before temporization, fissure-sealant bonding and as a protective varnish for glass-ionomer restorations, following the applicable instructions for use. For direct light-cured applications, the instructions specify actively rubbing the adhesive onto the prepared tooth structure for 20 seconds, gently air-drying for approximately 5 seconds until the solvent has evaporated, then light-curing for 10 seconds. Moisture control is essential during bonding; use appropriate isolation and follow the restorative material manufacturer’s instructions. Single Bond Universal Adhesive can also be used within selected indirect restorative workflows, including as an adhesive or primer for prepared indirect surfaces. When used with self-cure or dual-cure composites, cements or core build-up materials, the separate Single Bond Universal DCA Dual Cure Activator is required unless the cement system instructions state otherwise.
